The CD Wolfgang & Friends is a journey through musical history itself and a glimpse at all the influences that have shaped the songwriter’s life. It works as an ethnomusicological project because it follows a personal creative intuition across time and space. It is also a deeply self-reflective musical diary that does away with style and influence to reveal the essence of creative inspiration in song writing. Some of the titles, like The Wind is a Woman’s Hair, The Birth of Something New and Someone Else’s Eye’s, conjure poetic thought before a single note has been played. Although the source recordings for much of the material on the CD were drawn from cassettes hastily recorded after a recording session, they have been meticulously re-touched to reproduce the musical tracks as clearly as possible. Songs drawn from original masters were reproduced as such on this new compilation of material composed and mostly performed by Wolfgang.
